G R O W Genesis 3 : 5 (Temptation & Sin)
For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Regardless of what some believers think, it is no sin to be tempted. The sin is not in the bait; it is in the bite. Just because Satan dangles some bait before you doesn’t mean you have done anything wrong. In fact, if you never get tempted, I have to wonder whether something’s wrong with you. The very fact that you’re moving forward spiritually means you will get tempted, because the devil wants to bring you down. The devil will come to you with all kinds of illicit things that seem enticing to you. He’ll offer you appealing options that will ultimately destroy you. Remember that the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden was “good for food and pleasant to the eyes” (v. 6). That fruit looked good; it probably smelled good, too. So if you have faced some temptation and spiritual attack, probably that means you are doing something right. For more about Temptation and Sin, see Gen. 4:7; Satan, Deut. 30:14.
